Want an ancient, claw-foot tub or a phone booth from the fifties?  Give Vermont Salvage a try.   Architectural Salvage is what they do and their two huge centers in White River Junction, Vermont, and Manchester, New Hampshire are part warehouse, museum and social center (especially on Saturdays).  The vast and varied retrieved remnants from New England's homes and buildings are, for many, the building blocks for new homes or newly discovered treasure with a particular pedigree.  They welcome inquiries at the site or by calling 802) 295-7616.

J.M. Sarnik & Sons operate The Old General Store at 1140 Main St in Coventry.  They offer a good variety of antique furniture, many of which are pictured at the site and they can arrange for shipping within 200 miles of Coventry.  While their inventory changes frequently, collectors of Coke products will want to explore the large collection they recently acquired.  The Coke collectables consist of licensed products and the harder to find Coke produced merchandise and displays.  Normal store hours are Wednesday to Friday 12:00 till 5:00 and Saturday and Sunday 9:00 till 5:00.  Appointments are welcome.  The site includes directions, a good photograph of the store and contact information.

There are some great photographs of vintage electronic devices at Antique Radio Restoration & Repair, many of which include the owner, Bob Eslinger of Pomfret.  Decades ago these relics represented "cutting edge" technology that was combined with the more traditional skills of woodworking and cabinet making.

Eslinger takes a soup-to-nuts approach to the restoration process, working both the electronic and crafting requirements that many of these machines require.  He services all tube type radios including those made in Germany and Canada and also works on automobile radios, amplifiers and large, floor consoles.  His work has attained a national following among collectors and has been the subject reports in prominent New England publications.

Visitors, even those without radio problems, are welcome to browse around his shop at 20 Gary School Road in Pomfret Center.  The site includes links to other antique radio sites and, if your speakers are on, music.

Collectics Antiques and Collectibles was started in 1998 by Karen Lee in Greenwich and it has become a key resource about antiques and collectibles.  The site offers varied selection of things to view and buy- Vintage Kitchenware, Pottery, lamps, period jewelry, memorabilia, books, to name a few-with an eclectic bent towards Art Deco and Art Nouveau.

Ms. Lee's monthly Web Log and Journal may be of special interest.   She candidly dissects many of the major exhibitions in the region and highlights upcoming events in the world of antiques, art and other things that may be somewhat less grand but collectable.

The site is exceedingly well researched, attractive and easy to navigate.  Offerings are thumb nailed for viewing and there are very good informational sections on a wealth of selected topics.  Viewers can complete a monthly quiz-a gift certificate can be won just by entering-and there are bountiful links to other sites of interest.  And of course, one can buy online.

Maps of the Past is operated by the Reid and Wright Antiquarian Bookstore in New Preston.  It offers maps of New England that can be purchased online.
