While other parts of the country seem to garner most of the press coverage on motoring and racing, New England has a large community of enthusiasts.  They range from refined organizations devoted to antique cars to off-road experts who seek the challenge of navigating New England's difficult terrain.  Many of these sites provide opportunities to swap stories, parts and even cars.  Newcomers are welcome.

Some of the more prominent events for collecting and racing are listed in our events calendar but many of these sites offer an up-to-date schedule of local happenings.

Connecticut Auto Events (AKA CtAutoEvents.com) as one would expect, is about people who have a passion about their cars in the Nutmeg state, but there's more.  Aside from an up-to-date schedule shows and cruises throughout the state, they offer a classified section, photographs of "project" cars and news from local car clubs.  The site offers an easy way to send event news and they do except advertising to help keep the site up and running.

The people who drive Volkswagens in Maine get together often to swap stories and maybe a few parts.  The Vacationland Volkswagen Association is their organization.  A nice bunch of folks too, not unlike the vehicle.  (This is a new URL and we're told another one may be one the way.)

The Connecticut Chevelle Connection been around since 1991. They work to  encourage the restoration and preservation of Chevrolet Chevelle, Malibu and El Camino built between 1964-1987.   As they say at the site, "Yes! There is a Chevelle Club in Connecticut!"

The Yankee Cruisah is one of the definitive sites for bike riding, as in motorcycles, in New England.  The site has pictures, notes of interest and a good event listing.

Cruisin' New England Magazine from Sandwich, MA  About cars-Classics, Muscle, Customs, Rods, Antiques, Vintage-with events, shows and a gift shop. Interesting site.

Shoreline Antique Auto Connection! From the Connecticut's coast-an antique auto enthusiast's mixed pizza of old parts, grand cars, local events and even weathered license plates with a mile or two on them.    Real people with yes, real cars.

Since 1958 the Cumberland Motor Club has sponsored
autocross races and time- speed- distance events in Maine with the common theme of safety in each.

SUV.Com is published by KII Automotive Group with offices in

New York, Maryland, Washington, DC and California and while they sing the praises of the vehicle they also claim to have no affiliation with automotive manufacturers. There isn't much about SUVs that is not at the site, although we did not see anything on mileage or emissions, including the latest on new models and accessories.  For the budding owner there is also a section on "How to safely drive a Sport Utility Vehicle" which should be required reading for Skip and Buffy.

Maine Association of Auto Clubs offers links and information for  clubs in Maine.

In Brookfield, MA the 101 Association provides an outlet for  devotees of the Indian 101 Scout Motorcycle.   They concentrate activities and information on machines built between 1928 and 1931.

1958 Cadillac Owners Association is about the people who own these classics from 58.   Lincolns need not apply.

Boston Area MG Club sort of came together a few years ago.   They are looking for new members and some things to do.

The Candlewood Valley Corvette Club is in Danbury, CT and holds an annual “corvettes only” car show at Danbury Airport. This year’s show is scheduled for Sunday, August 20th.

Classic Nights Car Club in Monroe CT holds a cruise every Friday night from May-October, in good weather.
Show vehicles as well as spectators are always welcome but the vehicle cut-off year is 1978.

Connecticut Area Classic Thunderbirds is dedicated to the preservation, restoration and enjoyment of these classic cars. They also have a very active social program.

Connecticut Historical Automobile Society is open to all makes and models of cars over 25 years old.  They marked their 50th year in 2000.

West Connecticut Rover Club, in Avon is about and for people who own and drive one of the Rover cars.

The Fairfield County Sports Car Club in Connecticut promotes the preservation, ownership and operation of sports cars.   They hold events and  to provide and regulate events and to encourage smart, careful driving.

Nutmeg Miata  is the Connecticut/Rhode Island Chapter  of the Miata Club of America.   The site includes a calendar of events, information on members, links and technical resources.

Connecticut MG Club, Boy do we love these cars.  They meet often to swap stories and maybe a part or two.  We thank Steve of Shoreline Antique Auto for the link.

New England Club DSM, car lovers who share interests and improve the racing performance of cars.  Interesting group.

New England Region-Sports Car Club of America is a membership organization that promotes safe motorsports in New England.

New England Triumphs is about the British car and the people who drive them in the six states.

Sports Car Club of America, New England Region

The New England 4 Wheelers-for off road types

The New England MG 'T' Register  We also owned an MGB, with wire wheels  that did Europe when we were in the Army.   But that was long ago and all too far away.
