While other
parts of the country seem to garner most of the press coverage on
motoring and racing, New England has a large community of enthusiasts. They range from refined organizations
devoted to antique cars to off-road experts who seek the challenge of
navigating New England's difficult terrain. Many of
these sites provide opportunities to swap stories, parts and even cars.
Newcomers are welcome.
Some of the
more prominent events for collecting and racing are listed in our
events calendar but many of these sites offer an up-to-date schedule
of local happenings.

Connecticut
Auto Events (AKA CtAutoEvents.com) as one
would expect, is about people who have a passion about their
cars in the Nutmeg state, but there's more. Aside from
an up-to-date schedule shows and cruises throughout the state,
they offer a classified section, photographs of
"project" cars and news from local car clubs.
The site offers an easy way to send event news and they do
except advertising to help keep the site up and running.

The people who drive
Volkswagens in Maine get together often to swap stories and maybe a
few parts. The Vacationland
Volkswagen Association is
their organization. A nice bunch of folks too, not unlike
the vehicle. (This is a new URL and we're told another one may
be one the way.)
The
Connecticut Chevelle Connection
been around since 1991. They work
to encourage the restoration and preservation of Chevrolet
Chevelle, Malibu and El Camino built between 1964-1987.
As they say at the site, "Yes! There is a Chevelle Club in
Connecticut!"
The
Yankee Cruisah is

New England. The site has pictures, notes of interest and a
good event listing.

SUV.Com
is published by KII Automotive Group with offices in
New
York, Maryland, Washington, DC and California and while they sing the
praises of the vehicle they also claim to have no affiliation with
automotive manufacturers. There isn't much about SUVs that is not at
the site, although we did not see anything on mileage or emissions,
including the latest on new models and accessories. For the
budding owner there is also a section on "How to safely drive a Sport Utility
Vehicle" which should be required reading for Skip and Buffy.
Maine
Association of Auto Clubs
offers links and information for clubs in Maine.
In Brookfield,
MA the 101

Motorcycle. They concentrate activities and information

good weather.
Show vehicles
as well as spectators are always welcome but the vehicle cut-off year
is 1978.
