New England's Governors

Where the buck stops, most of the time.

To the Governor's Office

Each of the six Chief Executive Officers, not surprisingly, is anxious to hear from the people who put them in office or send them packing.  All want to hear from out-of-staters as well, especially on business, development and tourism issues.

When writing or calling a governor's office, there are a few things to keep in mind.

Regardless of the message's content (high praise to "get a real job") communications should be brief, concise and original.   These people are busy.

Most are not interested in receiving forwarded messages or attachments, unless requested.  Don't send a press release or mass mailings.  Unless they are truly newsworthy, they'll end up in round file.

Be patient.  Give your communication time to work its way from the Governor's office to the state's offices and agencies.

Sooner or later, you should get a reply from a real person.

The governors know that an ignored letter, phone call or email-even from Fargo-can come back to haunt them.

All New England's Governors are members of the National Governors Association in Washington, D.C.  An interesting site where state leaders talk shop.
