Emmanuel
Gospel Center began in the early 20th century with a truck, a
"sound system" and a mission to serve Boston's
poor. Formally founded in 1938, the Center has evolved and expanded to
meet the changes and challenges that are all too familiar in contemporary urban
America. The extensive services offered by the center includes
research on community/church relationships, aiding local churches with their own
specific missions and developing individual strategies that have lasting,
positive results.
On
Tuesday, September 23, the Center's Starlight Ministries will host a
conference on the Urban Churches' Response to Homelessness: Helping the
Urban Church Serve People Who Are Homeless." also covering issues of mental
health and substance abuse. Held at Congregación León de Judá in Boston's
South End, contact Rachel Parker at rparker@egc.org
or 617-262-4567 for more information.
Episcopal
Diocese of New Hampshire New Hampshire Episcopalians number over
12,000 in 50 parishes and missions, and the diocese is one of the fastest
growing in the Episcopal Church. In addition to its year-round
congregations, the diocese includes seven active summer chapels and
institutional chapels at two affiliated schools, as well as the Chapel of the
Holy Angels at Diocesan House.
In June 2003 the Dioceses elected a new Bishop. From the site..."Join

The
Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston serves just over two million
Catholics in the Massachusetts counties of Essex, Middlesex, Norfolk, Plymouth (the towns of Marion, Mattapoisett and Wareham excepted) and Suffolk
in 362 Parishes. It has over 900 priests, publishes two newspapers and
operates scores of schools, medical treatment facilities and community service
centers within the diocese.
The
site offers information on all the activities of the Archdiocese: marriage
preparation, dialog with other religious groups, volunteer opportunities, charities,
cemeteries and much more. They have an events listing for local
churches and have a very good directory of Roman Catholic Internet sites.
As one my expect, there are many avenues available to contact the Archdiocese
and its subordinate offices.
